Does God change in any way?

Does God change or does everything about him stay the same forever? Has he ever changed his mind about anything? If so, what about and why?

[Mal 3:6 ESV] 6 "For I YHWH do not change; therefore you, O children of Jacob, are not consumed.

[Isa 55:8-11 ESV] 8 For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, declares YHWH. 9 For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts. 10 "For as the rain and the snow come down from heaven and do not

return there but water the earth, making it bring forth and sprout, giving seed to the sower and bread to the eater, 11 so shall my word be that goes out from my mouth; it shall not return to me empty, but it shall accomplish that which I purpose, and shall succeed in the thing for which I sent it.

[Jas 1:16-17 ESV] 16 Do not be deceived, my beloved brothers. 17 Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above,

coming down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow due to change.

[2Ki 10:10 ESV] 10 Know then that there shall fall to the earth nothing of the word of YHWH, which YHWH spoke concerning

the house of Ahab, for YHWH has done what he said by his servant Elijah."

[Num 23:19 ESV] 19 God is not man, that he should lie, or a son of man, that he should change his mind. Has he said, and will he not do it?

Has he said, and will he not do it? Or has he spoken, and will he not fulfill it?

[1Sa 15:23-29 ESV] 23 For rebellion is as the sin of divination, and presumption is as iniquity and idolatry. Because you have rejected the word of the LORD, he has also rejected you from being king." 24 Saul said to Samuel, "I have sinned, for I have transgressed the commandment of YHWH and your words, because I feared the people and obeyed their voice. 25 Now therefore, please pardon my sin and return with me that I may bow before YHWH." 26 And Samuel said to Saul, "I will not return with you. For you have rejected the

word of YHWH, and YHWH has rejected you from being king over Israel." 27 As Samuel turned to go away, Saul seized the skirt of his robe, and it tore. 28 And Samuel said to him, "YHWH has torn the kingdom of Israel from you this day and has given it to a neighbor of yours, who is better than you. 29 And also the Glory of Israel will not lie or have regret, for he is not a man, that he should have regret."

[Jos 23:14-16 ESV] 14 "And now I am about to go the way of all the earth, and you know in your hearts and souls, all of you, that not one word has failed of all the good things that YHWH your God promised concerning you. All have come to pass for you; not one of them has failed. 15 But just as all the good things that YHWH your God promised concerning you have been fulfilled for you, so YHWH will bring upon you all the evil things, until he has

destroyed you from off this good land that YHWH your God has given you, 16 if you transgress the covenant of YHWH your God, which he commanded you, and go and serve other gods and bow down to them. Then the anger of YHWH will be kindled against you, and you shall perish quickly from off the good land that he has given to you."

[Isa 14:24-27 ESV] 24 YHWH of hosts has sworn: "As I have planned, so shall it be, and as I have purposed, so shall it stand, 25 that I will break the Assyrian in my land, and on my mountains trample him underfoot; and his yoke shall depart from them, and his burden from their shoulder." 26 This is the

purpose that is purposed concerning the whole earth, and this is the hand that is stretched out over all the nations. 27 For YHWH of hosts has purposed, and who will annul it? His hand is stretched out, and who will turn it back?

[Psa 89:34-37 ESV] 34 I will not violate my covenant or alter the word that went forth from my lips. 35 Once for all I have sworn by my holiness; I will not lie to David. 36 His offspring shall endure forever, his throne as long as the sun

before me. 37 Like the moon it shall be established forever, a faithful witness in the skies." Selah

[Psa 110:1-4 ESV] 1 A Psalm of David. YHWH says to my Lord: "Sit at my right hand, until I make your enemies your footstool." 2 YHWH sends forth from Zion your mighty scepter. Rule in the midst of your enemies! 3 Your people will offer themselves freely on the day of your power, in holy garments;

from the womb of the morning, the dew of your youth will be yours. 4 YHWH has sworn and will not change his mind, "You are a priest forever after the order of Melchizedek."

[Psa 102:24-27 ESV] 24 "O my God," I say, "take me not away in the midst of my days-- you whose years endure throughout all generations!" 25 Of old you laid the foundation of the earth, and the heavens are the work of your hands.

26 They will perish, but you will remain; they will all wear out like a garment. You will change them like a robe, and they will pass away, 27 but you are the same, and your years have no end.

[1Sa 3:15-20 ESV] 15 Samuel lay until morning; then he opened the doors of the house of YHWH. And Samuel was afraid to tell the vision to Eli. 16 But Eli called Samuel and said, "Samuel, my son." And he said, "Here I am." 17 And Eli said, "What was it that he told you? Do not hide it from me. May God do so to you and more also if you hide anything from me of all that he told you." 18 So

Samuel told him everything and hid nothing from him. And he said, "It is YHWH Let him do what seems good to him." 19 And Samuel grew, and YHWH was with him and let none of his words fall to the ground. 20 And all Israel from Dan to Beersheba knew that Samuel was established as a prophet of YHWH.

[Heb 13:7-9 ESV] 7 Remember your leaders, those who spoke to you the word of God. Consider the outcome of their way of life, and imitate their faith. 8 Yehoshua the anointed is the same yesterday and today and forever. 9 Do not

be led away by diverse and strange teachings, for it is good for the heart to be strengthened by grace, not by foods, which have not benefited those devoted to them.

[1Ki 13:7-24 ESV] 7 And the king said to the man of God, "Come home with me, and refresh yourself, and I will give you a reward." 8 And the man of God said to the king, "If you give me half your house, I will not go in with you. And I will not eat bread or drink water in this place, 9 for so was it commanded me by the word of YHWH, saying, 'You shall neither eat bread nor drink water nor return by the way that you came.'" 10 So he went another way and did not return by the way that he came to Bethel. 11 Now an old prophet lived in Bethel. And his sons came and told him all that the man of God had done that day in Bethel. They also told to their father the words that he had spoken to the king. 12 And their father said to them, "Which way did he go?" And his sons showed him the way that the man of God who came from Judah had gone. 13 And he said to his sons, "Saddle the donkey for me." So they saddled the donkey for him and he mounted it. 14 And he went after the man of God and found him sitting under an oak. And he said to him, "Are you the man of God who came from Judah?" And he said, "I am." 15 Then he said to him, "Come home with me and eat bread." 16 And he said, "I may not return with you, or go in with you, neither will I eat bread nor drink water with you in this place,

17 for it was said to me by the word of YHWH, 'You shall neither eat bread nor drink water there, nor return by the way that you came.'" 18 And he said to him, "I also am a prophet as you are, and an angel spoke to me by the word of YHWH, saying, 'Bring him back with you into your house that he may eat bread and drink water.'" But he lied to him. 19 So he went back with him and ate bread in his house and drank water. 20 And as they sat at the table, the word of YHWH came to the prophet who had brought him back. 21 And he cried to the man of God who came from Judah, "Thus says YHWH, 'Because you have disobeyed the word of YHWH and have not kept the command that YHWH your God commanded you, 22 but have come back and have eaten bread and drunk water in the place of which he said to you, "Eat no bread and drink no water," your body shall not come to the tomb of your fathers.'" 23 And after he had eaten bread and drunk, he saddled the donkey for the prophet whom he had brought back. 24 And as he went away a lion met him on the road and killed him. And his body was thrown in the road, and the donkey stood beside it; the lion also stood beside the body.

[Isa 40:6-8 ESV] 6 A voice says, "Cry!" And I said, "What shall I cry?" All flesh is grass, and all its beauty is like the flower of the field. 7 The grass withers, the flower fades when the breath of YHWH blows on it;

surely the people are grass. 8 The grass withers, the flower fades, but the word of our God will stand forever.

[Isa 45:23 ESV] 23 By myself I have sworn; from my mouth has gone out in righteousness a word that shall not return: 'To me every knee shall bow, every tongue shall swear allegiance.'

[Jer 1:11-12 ESV] 11 And the word of YHWH came to me, saying, "Jeremiah, what do you see?" And I said, "I see an almond branch." 12 Then YHWH said to me, "You have seen well, for I am watching over my word to perform it."

[Jer 26:2-3, 13 ESV] 2 "Thus says YHWH: Stand in the court of the YHWH's house, and speak to all the cities of Judah that come to worship in the house of YHWH all the words that I command you to speak to them; do not hold back a word. 3 It may be they will listen, and every one turn from his evil way, that I

may relent of the disaster that I intend to do to them because of their evil deeds. ... 13 Now therefore mend your ways and your deeds, and obey the voice of YHWH your God, and YHWH will relent of the disaster that he has pronounced against you.

[Jer 42:7-10 ESV] 7 At the end of ten days the word of YHWH came to Jeremiah. 8 Then he summoned Johanan the son of Kareah and all the commanders of the forces who were with him, and all the people from the least to the greatest, 9 and said to them, "Thus says YHWH, the God of Israel, to

whom you sent me to present your plea for mercy before him: 10 If you will remain in this land, then I will build you up and not pull you down; I will plant you, and not pluck you up; for I relent of the disaster that I did to you.

[Eze 12:25-28 ESV] 25 For I am YHWH; I will speak the word that I will speak, and it will be performed. It will no longer be delayed, but in your days, O rebellious house, I will speak the word and perform it, declares the Lord YHWH." 26 And the word of YHWH came to me: 27 "Son of man, behold, they

of the house of Israel say, 'The vision that he sees is for many days from now, and he prophesies of times far off.' 28 Therefore say to them, Thus says the Lord YHWH: None of my words will be delayed any longer, but the word that I speak will be performed, declares the Lord YHWH."

[Exo 32:7-14 ESV] 7 And YHWH said to Moses, "Go down, for your people, whom you brought up out of the land of Egypt, have corrupted themselves. 8 They have turned aside quickly out of the way that I commanded them. They have made for themselves a golden calf and have worshiped it and sacrificed to it and said, 'These are your gods, O Israel, who brought you up out of the land of Egypt!'" 9 And YHWH said to Moses, "I have seen this people, and behold, it is a stiff-necked people. 10 Now therefore let me alone, that my wrath may burn hot against them and I may consume them, in order that I may make a great nation of you." 11 But Moses implored YHWH his God and said, "O YHWH, why does your wrath burn hot against your people, whom you have

brought out of the land of Egypt with great power and with a mighty hand? 12 Why should the Egyptians say, 'With evil intent did he bring them out, to kill them in the mountains and to consume them from the face of the earth'? Turn from your burning anger and relent from this disaster against your people. 13 Remember Abraham, Isaac, and Israel, your servants, to whom you swore by your own self, and said to them, 'I will multiply your offspring as the stars of heaven, and all this land that I have promised I will give to your offspring, and they shall inherit it forever.'" 14 And YHWH relented from the disaster that he had spoken of bringing on his people.

[Jer 18:7-10 ESV] 7 If at any time I declare concerning a nation or a kingdom, that I will pluck up and break down and destroy it, 8 and if that nation, concerning which I have spoken, turns from its evil, I will relent of the disaster that I intended to do to it. 9 And if at any time I declare concerning a nation or a

kingdom that I will build and plant it, 10 and if it does evil in my sight, not listening to my voice, then I will relent of the good that I had intended to do to it.

[Jer 26:2-6, 13, 19 ESV] 2 "Thus says YHWH: Stand in the court of YHWH's house, and speak to all the cities of Judah that come to worship in the house of YHWH all the words that I command you to speak to them; do not hold back a word. 3 It may be they will listen, and every one turn from his evil way, that I may relent of the disaster that I intend to do to them because of their evil deeds. 4 You shall say to them, 'Thus says YHWH: If you will not listen to me, to walk in my law that I have set before you, 5 and to listen to the words of my servants the prophets whom I send to you urgently, though you have not listened, 6 then I will make this house like Shiloh, and I will make this

city a curse for all the nations of the earth.'" ... 13 Now therefore mend your ways and your deeds, and obey the voice of YHWH your God, and YHWH will relent of the disaster that he has pronounced against you. ... 19 Did Hezekiah king of Judah and all Judah put him to death? Did he not fear YHWH and entreat the favor of YHWH, and did not YHWH relent of the disaster that he had pronounced against them? But we are about to bring great disaster upon ourselves."

[Jer 42:7-16 ESV] 7 At the end of ten days the word of YHWH came to Jeremiah. 8 Then he summoned Johanan the son of Kareah and all the commanders of the forces who were with him, and all the people from the least to the greatest, 9 and said to them, "Thus says YHWH, the God of Israel, to whom you sent me to present your plea for mercy before him: 10 If you will remain in this land, then I will build you up and not pull you down; I will plant you, and not pluck you up; for I relent of the disaster that I did to you. 11 Do not fear the king of Babylon, of whom you are afraid. Do not fear him, declares the LORD, for I am with you, to save you and to deliver you from his hand. 12 I

will grant you mercy, that he may have mercy on you and let you remain in your own land. 13 But if you say, 'We will not remain in this land,' disobeying the voice of YHWH your God 14 and saying, 'No, we will go to the land of Egypt, where we shall not see war or hear the sound of the trumpet or be hungry for bread, and we will dwell there,' 15 then hear the word of YHWH, O remnant of Judah. Thus says YHWH of hosts, the God of Israel: If you set your faces to enter Egypt and go to live there, 16 then the sword that you fear shall overtake you there in the land of Egypt, and the famine of which you are afraid shall follow close after you to Egypt, and there you shall die.

[Eze 24:14 ESV] 14 I am YHWH. I have spoken; it shall come to pass; I will do it. I will not go back; I will not spare; I will not relent; according to your ways and your deeds you will be judged, declares the lord YHWH."
